Happy last day of January!

So, I am working on some projects, some ideas, some thoughts.
Your blogging gurus will be Ronni and Tammy for February, while I get my March kit all put together at the store. I will be posting sneaks through the month. Oh the pressure! Hope you like it!

I wanted to leave you with a photo of my cutie patootie niece who turned 2 last Sunday! I can not believe she is 2 already! Thanks for letting me share! Yup, a Doodlebop party - my sister totally scored on the decorations. She did eat the cake this year - not a big piece, but last year she wouldnt even touch it! LOL And yes, we will be going to the Doodlebop show in March. I get to share her 1st concert! I will be taking my camera you can bet on that!!!!

final sneak peek

Here it is, Saturday, and can you believe that January is almost over? Before you know it, it will be spring... thank goodness! But with the weather being as cold and as snowy as it's been, it's forced me to look for new and interesting things to take photos of (as well as fast as possible so I don't freeze to death!) In the next month, I'll be showing you some of my winter photos.
But in the meantime, I wanted to give you a quick and final sneek peak of what I'll show you how to make in February's kit. Enjoy! See you soon! ~Ronni H.

Resolutions for 2010...

Do you make New Years resolutions?
Do you keep them? Are you good at sticking with it through the year?
Did you scrapbook them? I have a friend who scrapbooks her resoulutions every year and then goes back and reflects on them throughout the year - did she make it, was it a possitive change, did they reflect her personality.

As the end of January approaches, I thought I would ask you how you are doing on your resolutions. Are they personal, scrapbook related, work related?

Myself, I fully admid I suck at keeping resolutions. I try to set goals for the year - and usually suck at those too. A couple of my scrappy goals:
1. to submit pages to magazines every month
2. try new techniques
3. find a new and exciting scrapbook retreat loaction for a weekend away.

Care to share yours? How can we help you attain them?

A Year of Challenges - #3

Your challenge this week....

Make a mini album
Here is a mini album I just completed from my trip to New York City August '09.

Each page is a mix of 2x3 and 3x4 photos. The line I used is the Little Yellow Bicycle Traveler line. Each page inside represents some of my favourite things we did and saw on our trip.

Great photo opportunity today!

The Olympic Torch hits our city today (and Taber this morning)! What an awesome photo/layout op!

We will be there. We are going to take K-bear there to check it out. I am sure she will be more excited about the park, but we will see how it goes. I will have my camera with me. Hopefully I can get a few good shots.

Well the weather outside is frightfull...

School is now finished, I have a place to work, Christmas is done, New years is done and my birthday is done...now is the time for the adrenalin to come down and me to get sick..knock on wood.

So i had a wonderful birthday on monday...i was home all alone with nothing to do, (except the 16 loads of laundry)so i worked on this cool project..cant tell ya what it is yet, because u all have a mission if u wish to complete this project....

Your mission:
Take a pic of yourself once a month on the same day...(suggetion: your birthday date example im the 4th so every month on the 4th i will take a pic of me) it can be just you, or you doing something u love.
This project will take u till dec 2010 to complete with you pics. Along the way take a few pics of some of your favorite things.
The project will be released for the April kit.

well hope to see ya all soon, if anyone needs some muscle work done u can get my cell # from kari.

A Year of Challenges #1

Distress your pattern paper

On the following layout, I used the Glitz Design Distress stamps (I heart these stampes! You get 4 in the package - dots, numbers, grid and script writing) to grunge up the Basic Grey papers. It tones down the bright colours a bit and adds some texture to it.

Some other ideas to distress your paper
  • crumple and then sand the ridges and then ink with brown or black
  • sand the edges to take off some colour
  • rip and tear
  • use a distressing tool to rough up the edges
  • ink a simple edge
  • use a rough paint brush or old toothbrush and smack the paper with it to add some texture
  • use an old toothbrush and flick paint onto your paper to get a random look

2009 housecleaning and whats to come in 2010!

WOW! I can not believe that 2009 and over! That went by so fast! I just wanted to touch base and see how everyone made out over the holidays - did you get lots of pictures? Did you pick up your paper at the store yet? I know Kari still has some Christmas stuff there - not a lot but there is some left :)

So, a bit of housekeeping and some new stuff for the new year.

12 Challenge
How did you do on this?
Did you follow along?
Did you get through each month?
Did you step outside your comfort zone with the topics posted?
Did you get your album done or are you still working on it?

Remember, we would love to see your albums and your interpretation of the topics through the year! Let Kari know if it is ok to post some pictures of your album on the blog, or take your own and email her at the store for us to upload. Inspire others!

Kits
We are total revamping our kits! Have you noticed by Tammy's post yeaterday?

Each month a Design Team member is going to be bringing you their kit. It will be a layout, a project - something new, fun and different. There will be a very limited number of these kits available at the store. You do not want to miss out!

The kits will include detailed step by step instructions, colour photos of the projects and everything required to finish (except adhesive and inks). Some will be more elaborate, some will be simpler. We want to have a kit for everyone.

Let us know what you think once you have checked them out. Email Kari at the store or stop by to chat. We hope that you are as excited about this change as we are!

2010 - A Year of 52 Challenges
We are so excited to bring you another year of challenges.

The Design Team is going to post every Monday morning with a new challenge for you. Each week we will post a challenge and try to post a sample for you as well on how we interpreted the challenge. Some will be more indepth, some will be easier.

*deep breath* they are not hard ;) They are to help you jump off and do a layout or card. They are to maybe make you say "hey, I can do that..." or "hey, that is new..." or "hey, I have been meaning to try that..."

It may be something simple that helps you finish a layout that you have been staring at (I am the queen of staring at a layout forever!). It may be something that gives you an idea on a layout and you get it done start to finish off the one challenge.

We are hoping that you will find something new and exciting in our challenges. We hope that you will try something new!

With that, I think I am done. There will be a few more minor things going on this year. Keep your eye on the blog for more deets!
